How To 'Grab-The-Script'
|

When you find the script you want, click the above image on that page, it will be at the very top of the page just under the sponser. This will take you to a *.txt file with just the script. Sometimes it may ask you to download a zip file, this zip file contains images etc needed for that script. In some browsers you will get a working copy of the script, simply save the page and view it in notepad. If you get a white screen when you "Grab The Script" try refreshing the browser, if it still is blank, simply save the page from the file menu and then open it in notepad.. Sometimes, you will have to have your own images after you get the script.
If you are a Netscape 4 person, may we suggest you 'Save Frame As..' to save the script, as this browser 'writes out' the script rather than displays the code.
If you still can't get the script, may we suggest you ask a friend to show you how or keep trying. This may mean hours of script debugging.

Blank White Screen When You 'Grap The Script'
|
If you try and 'Grab-The-Script' and only get a white blank screen don't worry, you can still get the script. If this happens, it means your browser is trying to display the text file as a web page. When it does this, you may see nothing if the script is an alert or non visual script. If this happens do this... Click in the frame and go 'Save Frame As...' from the file menu and save the page, then view it in Notepad and save it as a .html file. Or you can view the frame source and get it like that.

How To Get The Applets
|
On the Applet Menu page, you get a description of the applet. When you click on the link, you download a zip file containing all the needed files.

Applet Errors
|
To have working applets you need a high level browser such as 4+ and a 32bit Operating System such as Win95/98/NT. They don't work in Win3.x because it's only a 16bit OS. You need to upload ALL files in the zip file to make them work. People have reported errors when they upload the applets to there page, but they worked on the local drive. I don't know what the problem is and have no advice except for keep trying! Make sure you specifly where the applet file is stored in the applet code you put on your page. Applets don't work in all browsers so check the browser compatibility first.

Java City 2000 History
|
Java City was created by Nathan Portors. The basic HTML language tought by Joe Burg. Java City started in a little geocities home in Television City in May 1997. It was originally a "closed" site only accesable by members (Mind you at this time there weren't may members at all).
On the 24th October 1997 Java City officially opened to the public, having expanded and made more accessable.
In Febuary 1998 Java City took over Nathan's Web Page and was the only thing there. It became the site "Java City 2000". Not long after the reformation in Febuary, we moved to Hypermart, mainly for a better name and more space. This was a radical change for Java City because it meant it had it's own identity.
April 1998, we implemented a counter to keep track of the "few" visitors we were getting.
But in May-June, Java City was submitted to Yahoo Search Engine. That was the making of Java City. Around 500 visitors a day flocked for the scripts. Shortly after that we changed our layout and implemented other areas in Java City. Now with such features as the browser graphic representation key to tell you which scripts work in which browsers, and the 'Grab-The-Script' system, making it easier to get the scripts. These features make it easier for novices and experts to implement the scripts on your page with little fuss. We belive these features are what we owe the success of Java City 2000 to.
In Febuary 1999 Obsidian Web Technologies and Java City worked in conjunction with each other to supply the web with a webmaster resource center. We move from Hypermart To Obsidian for faster performance and reliability. In April, an offer from Cyberhost, server of Yahoo Australia And Yellow Pages, made us an offer to move to their server. We moved to our present location and working closely with both Obsidian and Cyberhost.
In May 1999 Click Agents Corp. our sponser paid us in full.
June 1999 we made Java City 2000 searchable with a search box.
July 1999 Web Cards sponsor paid us in full and so did Safe-Audit, giving us the money to buy a domain name. http://www.jc2k.com was selected as it was short and to the point.
